In 1989, Victor Puente, Sr. founded “Puente Concessions” with 3 newsstands at DFW Airport. Today, under the leadership of his daughter Gina Puente, Puente Concessions, now known as Puente Enterprises, Inc. (PEI) operates over 17 locations at DFW International Airport, Houston (IAH) International Airport, Dallas Love Field Airport, Grapevine, Texas and employs over 225 people.
Gina Puente, CEO, is a Fort Worth native and began helping at the family business, Southwest Office Systems at the age of eight. She degreed in broadcast journalism at Texas Christian University but found her true calling in the business field. In 1991 she joined her father and under his tutelage learned the airport concession business. In 1995, she founded the world’s first winery in an airport, La Bodega Winery, at DFW Airport.
Today PEI consists of four divisions; Retail, Food & Beverage, Quick Service and Currency. It operates as a franchisee of Blimpies, Urban Taco, UFood Grill, Travelex and founded original concepts Sky Canyon by Stephan Pyles, Wall Street News, Main Street News and La Buena Vida Vineyards in Grapevine.
PEI has been extensively recognized for extraordinary customer service, innovative concepts and for a diversified and familial culture.
Gina Puente has received numerous recognition and awards including Enterprising Woman of the Year, Latina Entrepreneur of the Year, Fort Worth and Texas Hispanic Business Woman of the Year awards, Blazing Star Award, Latina Women’s Recognition Award, Dallas Business Journal Most Influential Woman Award and Retail Concessionaire of the Year. She is active in the community and serves on several local boards.
